The
church St. Spas ( The Saviour) - Leskoec
The village Leskoec is situated approximately 2 km from
Ohrid along the motorway Ohrid - Bitola. There, in 1426, the church St. Spas was erected
and fresco painted. The church is one-naval in structure with semi-circled vault and
three-sided apse. The church was renovated in 1898 and then porches were added onto its
western and southern sides.
The frescoes in the church have been preserved and, according to A.
Nikoloski, they represent an interesting artistic entity. The stress is on the
compositions of "The Last Supper", "The Washing of the Feet",
"Apostles Communion" and the scenes from "The Sufferings of Christ".
It should be mentioned that in this church (as well as in the church
Mali Sveti Vraci), among the other saints, the figure of St. Clement of Ohrid is painted
in his natural size. The portrait is located on the southern wall. St. Clement holds a
model of the town in his hands.
